Capital Playhouse

Capital Playhouse celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2011! The Playhouse is the premier non-profit arts education and musical theater performance space in Olympia, Washington.

Located in the downtown business community, the Playhouse's 121-seat black box theatre hosts our annual chamber musical series Season in a Box. Playhouse programs include Performing Arts Classes for all ages; Students on Stage, where theater comes alive in your school; Page to Stage Theatre-Literacy Program; Kids in Koncert, the northwest’s premier youth concert and performance choir; and Tykes, a summer program for younger actors.

Our largest program, KIDS AT PLAY, has been in place since 1986, Capital Playhouse’s founding year. KIDS AT PLAY is a comprehensive musical theatre and performance program using a summer stock model, and has an enrollment of over 300 students between the ages of 8 and 17. To date, thousands of South Sound youth have sung, danced and acted in nearly one hundred KIDS AT PLAY productions to the enjoyment of more than 250,000 audience members.
