Our Winter 2012 Classes are held every Saturday from January 7th through March 24th at Capital Playhouse.

Acting Intensive (9:00am - 11:00am)
$ 225.00

with Heidi Fredericks

Acting Intensive - a great class for students of all experience levels!

You will:

  • Analyze scripts
  • Rehearse and perform scenework
  • Explore various acting techniques

Shakespeare, physical comedy, stage combat and The Alexander Technique will all be studied in order to create a well-balanced performer.

There will be a culminating performance on the last day of class.

 

Broadway Bound II (11:00am - 12:00pm)

A continuation of our class from the fall session, Heidi Fredericks – queen of teaching technique – will give new and returning students all the necessary tools to prepare for KAP 2012! Broadway Bound II will cover various choreography styles that line up with next summer’s season including Funky Motown moves for The Wiz, classic musical theatre waltzing for Cinderella, stylized dance for Annie and of course for those of you interested in Les Miserables you’ll need to learn how to march! Appropriate to all skill levels, this class is your ticket to nailing the dance call!

Broadway Bound I is NOT a prerequisite!

 

Group Voice, ages 8-11 (12:00pm - 1:00pm)

Nervous about choosing and learning an audition piece for KIDS AT PLAY 2011? This class will prepare you to be a vocal star! Students will learn the basics of vocal production for the stage in a non-competitive and nonthreatening arena.
Class limited to 12 students.

 

Group Voice, ages 12+ (1:15pm - 2:45pm)

How can you find that perfect audition piece that suits your vocal range and character style? This class will prepare you to nail that audition and learn to just have fun singing with good technique. A great class that is sure to keep your vocal chords alive and well.

Theatrical Makeup Techniques (12:00pm - 1:30pm)
$ 200.00

with Michael Costain

A one-and-a-half hour studio immersion course each week – students will be modeling for each other! We will explore plaster casting, human & synthetic wig use, laying on facial hair and, of course, applying makeup. Adults and young people welcome. Already have some experience? Bring your own tools and makeup kits. No experience? That’s okay too! If you’re interested in applying what you’ve learned, help us with our current productions! Students will be consulted and given a choice as to what materials are needed as abilities and ages will vary.

 

Technical Theatre Internships (10 Two-Hour Sessions)
$ 200.00

This fantastic opportunity allows students with a knack for technical theatre to expand and sharpen those skills one on one. Design a curriculum to encompass your interests - costumes and set building, or lighting and scenic painting! You set the schedule working once a week for two hours during our fall session at a time coordinated with the instructor. Many of our students have earned successful careers in technical theatre, and they started right here learning and working in our space. We have exceptionally talented technicians on staff ready to pass their knowledge on to you. Seniors! Looking for Culminating Project ideas? How about a technical internship?
