Capital Playhouse holds a strong commitment to educating the youth of our community in leadership and responsibility through teaching the skills of musical theatre. What distinguishes Capital Playhouse is our philosophy. Since our inception, we have subscribed to the philosophy that children will do what we expect of them. For this reason, we always insist on the highest caliber of performance that each individual is capable of, rather than settling for what comes easiest.
There's No Such Thing as a Small Part: We focus on creating a quality performance which in turn builds a sense of self-confidence, maturity, self-discipline, responsibility, and leadership in each participant. These qualities create not only the great performers of tomorrow, but the future community leaders, teachers, business owners, great moms and dads, and generally good people as well.

Academic Year

We offer two 10-week sessions of Saturday classes during the school year for kids ages 8 to 18 (exceptions by special permission only). One takes place in the fall and one in the winter. Classes offered vary each session, but generally include acting, group voice, dance (tap, jazz, musical theatre, modern), speech and diction, auditioning, and improvisation. Registration for fall classes begins at the end-of-summer picnic each year and continues at the Playhouse the following day until the classes are full. Fall classes begin mid September. Registration for Winter classes begins on the last day of Fall classes and the Winter class session begins the first Saturday after New Years. Early registration is encouraged: Classes fill up quickly!
A $75 deposit is due at the time of registration with tuition balance due by the first class.

Kids in Koncert has been recognized as one of the premier youth choirs in the northwest. Students meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 pm.
Students on Stage is a great way to bring theatre arts to your school. Contact the Playhouse to find out how your school can participate in this fun after-school program, complete with two performances.

Summer

Youth ages 5 through 16 participate in these energy-filled summer theatre programs. Registration is now open for KIDS AT PLAY and Tykes 2008. You can register anytime prior to the first day of rehearsal for each show.
