Theatre Dance (Ages 8 and up)
Saturdays, 1 pm - 2 pm, $150 (+$3 fee to register online) With Katie Stricker
Learn a variety of dance styles represented in musical theatre, including jazz, ballet, West African, modern and some breakdancing. Katie earned her BFA in Performing Arts at Southeast Missouri State University and has taught, choreographed and performed for Barefoot Studios, Broadway Center Conservatory, Lakewood Playhouse and Tacoma Little Theatre. If you are signed up for any KIDS AT PLAY shows this summer, this is the class for you!
Basic Tap (Ages 8 and up)
Saturdays, 1 - 2 pm, $150 (+$3 fee to register online) With Anna Swanson and Kali Ponzo
Are you signed up - or thinking of signing up - for KIDS AT PLAY’s Thoroughly Modern Millie? This class is a must! The classes offers tap technique, combinations and basic routines with emphasis on tap dancing in musicals.
Advanced Tap (Ages 8 and up)
Saturdays, 2 - 3:30 pm, $200 (+$3 fee to register online) With Heather Lenox
In this tap series we will work with the idea that the best way to improve dance memory is to choreograph. Students will develop their technical skill by working independently and in teams to choreograph short combinations and teach them to the class with the guidance of the instructor. Topics also include dance notation, presentation and polishing. Students should come to the first session with music in CD format that they would like to use in their choreography.
